Sustainable Products from Corn Fields for a Green Future

Published: Dec 2024 • By CORMO USA

The entire corn plant can be utilized to create sustainable products reducing our dependence on fossil fuels.

Products from Corn

Bioplastics (PLA)

Polylactic acid from corn starch is used in packaging, textiles, and 3D printing. PLA is compostable, replacing petroleum-based plastics.

Bioethanol

Corn is the primary feedstock for fuel ethanol in the US. Cellulosic ethanol from stover further expands renewable fuel without competing with food.

Growing Media

TEFA, made from processed corn straw, replaces peat moss in horticulture, protecting peatland ecosystems.

Biomass Energy

Corn stover can be burned, gasified, or converted to biogas, reducing greenhouse gas emissions versus fossil fuels.
